WHAT TO WEAR?

When you think of going to the beach it’s usually flip flops or sandals, bathing suits and cover-ups but if your visit to the beach is for a wedding, what should you wear?

Ok, so maybe swimwear is probably not what the bride had in mind as your attire when she invited you but she also didn’t except you to show up in a three piece wool suit or a formal gown.  As a guest at a ceremony on the beach, you can be sure the following will be more than acceptable:  

AMIGOS: A summer suit with a linen shirt (no ties required), linen pants or khakis, and dress shoes; however, if your invitation says that you can wear shorts …       go ahead. 

AMIGAS: A formal summer sundress, cocktail gown or knee-length with heels…  don’t fret, ceremonies right on the beach usually supply an area to remove those stilettos.

The other burning question is shades or no shades:  as a guest, feel free to wear your favourite pair. If you are a member of the wedding party then prepare to pocket them as the bride will likely request no sunglasses during the ceremony and for some of the formal pictures.  Not to worry, it’s only for a short time and you will ensure the bride unending gratitude if you pocket those Raybans.
