Wedding Review

March 8, 2010

While we wait to get the pictures of Daniel & Jillian’s amazing wedding, I would like to share with you the lovely review that they sent us. Their wedding celebration included 3 days of festivities at Las Ventanas resort.

I must start by saying that my husband and I had never been to Cabo prior to our wedding. We were pretty much flying blind until we met Sarai. From our very first conversation with her, we knew right away that we were in good hands and instantaneously knew that we could trust her with all of our wedding needs. Sarai was extremely professional and warm. She spent a good amount of time getting to know us as best she could over the phone before we even began to talk about the details. Sarai handled every detail from that point forward. She organized meetings and conference calls with the vendors and on many occasions represented us when we could not be present. She took great care in making sure our vision for the wedding and the wedding events were achieved. By the time we finally got to meet Sarai in person, we felt as if we had known her for years. She knew exactly what we wanted and how to articulate it to our vendors more eloquently than us (also in Spanish).

Sarai also guided us when we didnt know what we wanted. For example, we didnt know what colors we wanted or what the dcor of the dinning room should look like. This is where Sarai’s creative vision really shined. She pretty much took this on with little input from us. When I saw the room on my wedding day, I was blown away. From the draping of the walls to the table settings, it was more beautiful than I could have possibly imagined.

Our wedding was more of weeklong celebration with multiple events. We had a welcome dinner, an open bar event and the wedding. At each event Sarai was there every step of the way making sure all of the details were executed perfectly. She was there for us when ever we needed her. As the Cabo expert, she answered our questions and provided recommendations for places to eat and go out. Sarai was also there for our guests. She instructed me to put her cell phone number on the welcome itineraries so that our guests could contact her if they had questions or wanted to do some sightseeing in Cabo.

On our wedding day, Sarai handled everything from tipping vendors to fixing my hair at the reception. Sarai and her team made sure that the ceremony and the reception went perfectly according to plan. With Sarai there, I didnt have to worry about a thing and could enjoy my wedding stress free.

To call Sarai a wedding planner would be a huge understatement. She was our wedding everything and our wedding wouldnt have been the same without her. To say the least we highly recommend her!

Dan & Jillian

Thank you! Sarai Flores

Real Weddings: Marquis Los Cabos

March 3, 2010

The location: Marquis Hotel, Los Cabos

# of guests: 112

Why a destination wedding? Lindsay and Fisher chose a destination wedding because they loved the idea of it. “It’s so special to only be able to invite a select number of people and have them fly out of the country to see you exchange your vows.” Lindsay believes destination weddings are fun for everyone because guests get to make a vacation out of it, while the bride and groom are able to spend extra time with their friends and family.

Why Cabo? The couple chose Cabo because they had great memories from the numerous vacations they had spent there. Also, Cabo was only a short flight away for almost everyone attending, since most of their guests were from Texas and California. “There’s also something out of the ordinary getting married at sunset, overlooking the ocean.”

Accommodations: All the guests were staying at Marquis Hotel. This made festivities and organization much easier.

The concept: Lindsay was clear, “Everything must be white!” The ceremony flowers, reception centerpieces and ballroom décor were all the work of Elena Damy, contemporary florist designer.

The vendors: The pair chose local vendors recommended by Sarai. However, their photographer, Glen Johnson, flew in from Texas to capture the event.

The ceremony: The couple exchanged vows at sunset on the hotel’s most beautiful terrace, under an arch of suspended roses.

The rehearsal dinner: Closest friends and family enjoyed a magnificent night at Edith’s Restaurant. Food and décor were Mexican, and margaritas flowed freely the whole night.

The challenge: Lindsay and her mother found that relying on e-mail was the biggest challenge, since it made it envisioning the final results difficult. They were only able to travel to Cabo once prior to the wedding to review details and do the tasting.

The reward: “The best part of the wedding was seeing the final result! Every single detail about our wedding was everything and more than we could have ever expected or wanted. The communication with the hotel and on Sarai’s part was exceptional. If we ever did it over, we wouldn’t change one thing.”

Enjoy!

Las Ventanas al Paraiso: private wedding

February 21, 2010

Michelle & Simon came all the way from Australia for their perfect destination wedding. They had never been in Cabo before and they chose the beautiful Las Ventanas al Paraiso resort to celebrate their love. We planned a legal wedding and a private dinner only for the bride and groom. All the paper work and legal documentation were taken care of by Signature Weddings, who also provided the 4 witnesses present during the legal ceremony.

Here is what you need to know in order to get a legal wedding in Mexico:

Civil or Legal ceremony, this is the only type of wedding officially recognized in Mexico. It is officiated by a Justice of the Peace, from Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.

Mexico Requirements:

  • A Copy of the Groom & the Bride’s passport
  • A Copy of the Groom and the Bride’s birth certificate
  • ID copies  of four witnesses for the ceremony  (for private weddings where only the bride and groom are present, Signature Weddings would be pleased to provide witnesses)
  • Divorce Decree, if applicable. Mexican law requires that a minimum time period of one full year has elapsed from date of one of the following:
  • Final dissolution of marriage (divorce).  This must be verified with a certified copy of  the final divorce decree
  • Blood tests have to be done in Los Cabos, at least 2 business days prior to the wedding ceremony, in accordance with the Mexican Law.  A technician may come to your hotel for your convenience.
  • Copy of Mexican Visa (Tourist Card) given upon entering Mexico

Saludos!

Real Weddings: San Lucas, Mexico

February 17, 2010

Julie and I worked together for exactly 12 months, planning her beautiful, one of a kind wedding. She was just finishing school and starting a new career when she began the planning process of her destination wedding! I have to mention that she did not even have the time to come in for a “site visit“.  All the decisions and plans were made by email. Thank you for entrusting in us Julie !

Here is some information about the Julie & Jang wedding in beautiful Cabo:

Location: Los Cabos, Mexico, Sheraton Hacienda del Mar

Inspiration: beach chic celebration

Details: fire dancers, salsa dancers, sparkles

Memorable moment: As a surprise for Julie and Jang, one of the aunts of the bride, who is a professional opera singer, performed after dinner. This moment was exceeded by Julie’s father singing Julie’s childhood song, in Korean.

Saludos!

If you are not the big wedding type, please check this out!

Rochelle & Jackson decided to take a dream vacation and “coincidentally” have their wedding in paradise!

The event took place at the 12 Tribes Restaurant of Casa Dorada Resort & Spa. I particularly love the terrace area, you get an amazing view yet escape from the busy Medano beach.

Real Wedding: Esperanza Resort

January 2, 2010

We are very excited to share with you these beautiful images from the fabulous wedding of Caron and Mike at Esperanza Auberge Resort. We met with them only 5 months before the wedding date for a site inspection. During this visit, a menu tasting, meetings with the photographer, DJ, florist and other vendors were part of the agenda. The most difficult part for Caron was visualizing the flower concept. We did not want to compete with the amazing look of  Esperanza Resort, so we decided to preserve the look, but the same time adding some personal touches and playing with the wedding colors which were orange & pink. It turned out beautifully. Pina Hernandez was in charge of the flower decor.

Personal touches: we loved the escort cards, so check them out! Caron used Mexican tiles with everyone’s names on it.  Then, instead of the traditional guest book, the couple chose a beautiful book about Los Cabos. I personally loved how Caron incorporated small pictures of her grandmothers to her bouquet, it was a very nice way to have them be part of her wedding.

Nice touches: Cigar roller at the reception and Fire Works during cake cutting!

All photos by Manuel Burgoin. Thank you for sharing your work!

OneandOnly Palmilla Wedding

December 17th 2009

We recently received the beautiful pictures of Melissa & Richard’s wedding, which was held at the One&Only Palmilla. We had such an amazing weekend! Most guests, who flew in from cold Chicago, had a great time golfing, fishing and celebrating with Missy and Rich. Thanks to Lin Eagle for sharing her beautiful work with us.

The ceremony was held at the O&O Palmilla chapel, followed by cocktails and dinner at the Agua pool deck, where guests were welcomed by a mariachi band.

One of the cutest surprises of the night though,  was the groom’s cake. The bride had a cake especially designed for her groom in the form of his favorite cigar!  In addition, an actual cigar roller was also brought in for the occasion.

The following day, the festivities continued  at restaurant Sunset da Mona Lisa, where DJ Adan Mijares performed all night. More pictures coming…

Enjoy!

Becky & Chris Wedding, Esperanza Resort

December 7th, 2009

I am so excited to share with you some of the pictures from Becky & Chris’ beautiful wedding! Our amazing photographers, Alec & T. did a beautiful job, thank you!!!

Here is some information and notes about the festivities:

Venue: Esperanza Auberge Resort, hotel buyout for 4 days

Number of guests: 130

Inspiration: Bright colors, organic feeling, FUN ambience!

Ceremony & Cocktails: at the hotel’s beach

Dinner Reception: Pool deck and terraces

The challenge: Accommodating a stage for the band and dance floor on top of the hotel’s main pool. We were forced to close it 2 days before the wedding. Luckily, alternative pools were available on the villas side.

Details: Candy Bar, Dessert Station, Mango Margaritas

Couple’s personal signature: Chris and Becky are passionate about music. During the ceremony, Chris’ best friends played guitars as they walked down the aisle. Then, for the reception, the amazing band Drzhivegas was flown in and gave a really fantastic performance, what a great show!!!

Enjoy!
