Today, in our vendor sourcing selection, we would like to feature Suzanne Morel body care. Suzanne and her team have been in the Los Cabos area since 2003, having 9 years of successfully orchestrated beauty creations for thousands of brides. The Suzanne Morel team works on 200 ++ weddings per year! How do they do it without compromising the personal service and results? Here are some clues:

Organization: One of their number one skills. You won't risk your file ever getting lost or your photo being forgotten between the time you get the initial consultation to the time you are getting ready for the big day. They are always on time, I mean Always. Their people are well trained,  they have American stylists come down 3 times a year to do advanced training to ensure they are always one step ahead.

Process:  As wedding planners, this is our favorite part! Their process is flawless, there is a How and a When for everything. There is a reason why they ask you ALL. Everything is on paper, from your initial thoughts and visuals to the last notes about who will be getting ready with you, who needs eye lashes and who has thin hair, no room for confusion or unexpected situations.  Because they specialize in the bridal market, they are well aware of their every want and need.

Soul: Above all, this is a company of customer service. Suzanne Morel and her partner Elsa Dilasser make sure you get the attention and the time you need, in order to make this an enjoyable experience.

Here are some tips to take into consideration:

Hair & makeup trial: Ideally this would happen during the site planning trip and will be organized by us, your planners. If you do not have the opportunity to do a site planning trip, we can still schedule a trial during the week of the wedding. We cannot stress enough the importance of having the style decided before the wedding.

Timeline: If five people are having their hair & make-up done, it should take 5 hrs - 5 and a half hrs with an assistant, a make-up assistant and of course a bilingual wedding coordinator, whose presence is very important. You should consider being ready 2 hours before the ceremony. This will give you time to do the "getting ready" photos, which actually happen right before you put your dress on, it will allow time for bridesmaids' photos as well and some time time to refresh and relax before the procession.

Tips from Suzanne:
·         Do not cut your hair before your wedding
·         When washing your hair the night before, do not use any conditioner
·         Bring as many pictures of what you want so we can understand clearly

 Saludos!

We recently worked on a beautiful weekend wedding celebration, the kind that makes you wish you were a guest :-). We had lots of fun planning it though, and we are truly thankful to our charming bride with whom we worked on many cute details. Dawn really wanted every detail to be a reflection of her personality, as well as making each guest feel extra special of course. In her own words, "it's more fun to give than to receive:-)."

Signature Drink: Upon each guest's arrival, a custom made welcome cocktail complete with a "disclosure agreement" awaited them in their hotel room. The drink is the groom's favorite mix: Tequila Corzo, Agave syrup & water. All perfectly mixed by Arturo, Esperanza's star bartender.
Welcome bag: Courtesy of the bride and groom, each room was equipped with a beach bag containing a personalized t-shirt as a fun souvenir of the wedding. Among other things that were given: bar games, wet games, sun protection, sunglasses, chips, Gatorade, a first aid kit, an itinerary, etc.

Favors: Every evening, a different amenity was placed in the guest's rooms. We worked with chef Gonzalo at Esperanza to make sure the wedding guests received yummy surprises every night during their stay.

We also included a custom made door hanger, for guests to indicate their location during the day.
Many thanks to Marisol Reyes, our awesome graphic designer!

Enjoy!

November 16, 2011  |  FAQ, WEDDING ADVICE
Tips and Information about the Los Cabos area, feel free to share it with your guests, before visiting Cabo.

Q: Do I need passport to travel to Mexico?
Yes, all visitors will need a passport to enter Mexico, no matter where you are traveling from.

Q: What is the temperature like?
Daytime highs are around 75 degrees and sunny in the winter time. Nights are cool and breezy, light sweaters or wraps are suggested. Summer highs are around 95 degrees or more. We really do not suggest celebrating your wedding in the middle of August and/or September, unless you absolutely love the heat.

Q: Do I need to take any special safety precautions in Mexico?
First and foremost, it is important to note that Los Cabos and the sate of Baja California Sur are physically separated from those northern US/Mexico border cities specially identified within the Travel Warning by the nearly 1000-mile long Baja Peninsula and the Sea of Cortes.
This isolated setting protects Los Cabos from the effects or potential activity which may occur in other areas of Mexico and in fact, provides vacationers with a highly sought sense of island-like sanctuary.

However, you should take the regular safety precautions that you would in any vacation destination.

Q: What activities are there to do while we are in Mexico?
Whale watching season goes from November to February, you can enjoy spotting them from your ocean view hotel room or from the beach. Or, you can go on a whale watching boat trip that can be arranged by the hotel or by your planners :)

Cabo also has world-renowned fishing and scuba-diving or snorkeling. You can catch a charter boat right from town to experience these water activities. In addition to the water activities, there is great golf and tennis that can be arranged by your hotel. Los Cabos also has amazing spa options, our very top 3: Capella, Esperanza, Palmilla.

In terms of shopping, there is a luxury mall in downtown San Lucas and there are many tourist souvenir shops also. San Jose, "the old town" is a 20-min drive from San Lucas and has the old church, lots of shopping and art galleries that you can visit. On Thursday nights, San Jose offers the "art walk", an event where the galleries are open late and offer wine to shoppers. Its great fun.

Q: Can I drink the water?
Water from the tap in most hotels is filtered and therefore OK to drink. Check with your hotel and see if they filter their tap water. Bottled water is suggested when you are in town and in restaurants.

Q: Do I need to change money into Mexican pesos?
while U.S. dollars are welcome everywhere, we suggest you change some money into Mexican pesos, since some resorts will have restrictions, depending the amount of your bill.

Q: Can I use my credit card?
Yes, credit cards are welcome, but you should alert your bank and credit card company that you are traveling to Mexico to avoid them from freezing your card due to unusual purchasing activity. We also suggest checking your bank's conversion exchange fees.

Q: Do I need to tip in Mexico?
In most hotels, tipping is included in your hotel bill. However tipping is customary at restaurants, bars and taxis and is typically 10% to 15% of your bill.

Q: Will my cell phone work in Mexico?
If you have an international calling plan you will be able to make and receive calls while you are in Mexico. Check with your carrier if you are not sure you have an international calling plan.

Q: Is internet available?
Most hotels offer complementary wireless access.

Javier and I both grew up in Southern California and started dating our junior year of college in a suburb outside of Los Angeles. We knew early on that we had something special but we both felt that we had a lot to experience and even more to accomplish before settling down. After being together for over seven years, much of which was long distance while I pursued a career in New York, I found myself in the beautiful Huntington Library gardens deciphering clues that Javier prepared with the help of his family. The clues included memories from our past and lyrics from our favorite band, Dave Matthew's Band, which eventually lead me to Javier who was on one knee!  He was even sneaky enough to hire a photographer to capture the whole experience. It was such a romantic setting for our proposal.

Soon after our engagement we took a vacation to Los Cabos, Mexico and instantly fell in love with the breathtaking beaches and vivid cultural. We have always loved to travel so we were open to the idea of a destination wedding. On that trip we stayed at the scenic Sheraton Hacienda del Mar, located in the private area of Cabo del Sol which features an incredible golf course and club house. With its mix of Mexican architecture, beautiful beaches and landscaped greenery, Cabo del Sol was exactly what we were looking for in a wedding venue, intricate but still modern.

After that trip we came home envisioning a wedding that was intimate, romantic and an amazing experience for our guests. We were inspired by the bright sky, blue ocean and Mexican tiles, which lead to a blue mosaic tile theme throughout the wedding. Our invitation suite and printed materials featured patterns of different shades of blue, which conveyed the feeling of Mexico without being too beachy.

I often received advice that you have to really like your wedding planner and photographers, because they are going to be around you the whole day. We were lucky enough to actually love ours! Hiring Sarai Flores of SIGNATURE Event Consulting and Design, was one of our first and best decisions! I knew you lose a lot of control when planning a destination wedding and that we would need great partners. We immediately feel in love with Sarai's calm nature and European style, and knew that we could completely trust her. Sarai really went above and beyond to ensure our vision was executed flawlessly and that we were able to relax and enjoy every second of the wedding.

When my Aunt introduced us to husband and wife photography team, Gary and Courtney Christenson, we were blown away with their creativity and talent. They have such fun loving personalities and an amazing passion for travel, which really proved that they were the ideal photographers for us.  Not only did they document the entire weekend in Cabo, but Gary and Courtney genuinely listened and cared about our ideas, and we had a blast along the way!

It had always been a priority for us to be married in a church and be united as husband and wife with God. Throughout our engagement I even converted to Catholicism, so I could fully participate in the Mass. We loved the romantic and historic features of the Mision de San Jose del Cabo, located in an artistic downtown area. Many of our family and friends had important roles in the traditional ceremony and we were so filled with emotion as we joined in the sacrament of marriage.
church wedding
We tried to incorporate influences from our relationship into the wedding and the music highlighted that in significant ways.  We happen to be huge LOST nerds and our ceremony musicians were actually able to learn and play Micheal Giacchino's "Landing Party" from the season four soundtrack. It was so surreal walking down the aisle toward Javier with that powerful score in the background. It was also imperative that we have a trio at the cocktail reception overlooking the ocean, as Javier grew up listening to the popular Mexican trio Los Panchos. When we arrived at the Ocean Meadows, the trio began playing "Alma, Corazón y Vida," which we also used to name our reception dinner tables.
cabo del sol reception
We wanted the reception to resemble an intimate, alfresco dinner party complete with delicious cuisine and impeccable service.  We subtly paired the intricate club house with our blue mosaic details and crisp white for a sophisticated look.  From the "Ants Marching" introduction, to my uncle's heartfelt blessing and humorous toasts, paired with all night dancing and cigar smoking, the night truly amazed us!

Our wedding day was such an incredible celebration and Sarai and her team provided us with the most perfect experience for our wedding! Javier and I are so fortunate to have created many beautiful memories with our family and friends that we will treasure forever.
